Root Co-Founder and former colleague launch next venture with $7 million Seed Round
Columbus-based RWX has raised a $7 million seed round and launched Mint, a Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) platform.
The round was led by Quiet Capital and closed in 2022.
CI/CD platforms are responsible for all the automation that runs on every code change an engineer makes. Most were built in the early stage of cloud computing and haven’t evolved, meaning engineers needlessly wait on tests to run, spend time sifting through raw logs to identify failures, and have to commit and push to run tasks, creating an inefficient cycle for iteration.
RWX says it is building a paradigm-shifting platform at a time when AI is beginning to write code.

What It Means to Ohio
RWX represents a win for Ohio’s entrepreneurial ecosystem as a successful founder sets out to build and scale another startup.
RWX was founded by Tommy Graves and Dan Manges, who was the CTO of Root, a technology-powered car insurance carrier, which he co-founded in 2015 and took public in 2020 via an IPO. Graves was a senior engineering manager at Root.
Manges previously served as CTO of Braintree, where he built a payments platform which was acquired by PayPal in 2013 for $800 million.
What They’re Saying
“While building Mint we reconsidered every aspect of CI/CD, putting deep thought into the design of each feature to provide the best developer experience. We've been describing it as a paradigm-shifting platform, because although many aspects will feel similar to other CI/CD platforms, the execution model is quite different. And we've unlocked a bunch of powerful capabilities because of it.
“We’re thoroughly impressed with Mint’s innovative capabilities for CI/CD. We use a wide variety of technologies for building our data-intensive financial software platform, and we’ve been able to seamlessly leverage Mint across all our projects. Mint is a common engineering productivity platform across all our systems providing superior performance at a superior price point compared to GitHub Actions and other CI/CD platforms. Our engineering team is more productive with Mint’s fast builds, rich telemetry, and elegant developer experience. Additionally, with Mint being SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and providing hardened vault features, our CD pipelines have industry-leading security.”
- Bill Kaper, co-founder and CTO, HubiFi
"At Visivo, we're thoughtfully designing the most dev friendly and secure analytics platform. After seeing Mint's refreshing approach to CI/CD, we immediately decided to migrate to it. Defining our workflows as a task-based graph was a huge improvement in composition, reuse, and performance compared to our previous scripts. Having content-based caching eliminates needless executions, and we now get faster and more actionable feedback on build failures."
